Ormside Mill is situated just three miles from the market town of Appleby-in-Westmorland and 12 miles from Junction 38 of the M6.
Travelling from the South:
Leave the M6 at Junction 38. At the roundabout, turn left towards Appleby on the B6260. Travel through Orton, over the fells, into the hamlet of Burrells (approx. 10 miles). At the top of the hill (in Burrells), turn right towards Great Ormside (also signed to the Wild Rose Caravan Park). After approximately 2 miles, turn left, still following signs to the Caravan Park. After approx. 400m, take the first right. Continue past the entrance to the Caravan Park, along the narrow track and under the bridge. The Mill is approximately 500m further on, across the ford.
Travelling from the North or North-East:
Take the A66 until you reach the turn off for Appleby-in-Westmorland. Drive into the town and turn off the main road across the bridge (onto the B6260). Follow this road through the town and out towards the hamlet of Burrells. At the top of the hill (just entering Burrells), turn left towards Great Ormside (also signed to the Wild Rose Caravan Park). After approximately 2 miles, turn left, still following signs to the Caravan Park. After approx. 400m, take the first right. Continue past the entrance to the Caravan Park, along the narrow track and under the bridge. The Mill is approximately 500m further on, across the ford.
